Of all the things that are symbolic of the nation of Ishgard, few are more recognized than the dragoon. Born amidst the timeless conflict between men and dragons, these lance-wielding knights have developed an aerial style of combat, that they might better pierce the scaled hides of their mortal foes.
Taking to the firmament as though it were an extension of the land, they descend upon the enemy with every onze of their bodies behind the blow. It is this penetrative power that characterizes the dragoon.

In order to become a Dragoon, characters must have a level 30 Lancer and a level 15 Marauder.
Quests
Each Job can be unlocked by completing a quest. After which, the player will have quests every 5 levels, similar to how they did their Classes. Below is a list of those quests for Dragoon.
- Eye of the Dragon
- Lance of Fury
- Unfading Skies
- Double Dragoon
- Fatal Seduction
- Into the Dragon's Maw
Combat Role
In addition to enhanced attack power, dragoons are also able to take to the skies for short periods of time and rain down attacks on their enemies from above.
A Dragoon's most important stat is strength, which increases their attack power.
Skills
The Dragoon is all about mobile damage and his skills compliment this. They have access to various jumps that deal damage but also afflict their enemies with other effects.
Dragoons can access cross-class abilities from the Pugilist and Marauder classes.
Skills such as Jump are also on a different cooldown rotation from Lancer skills so "use bombs wisely."

Requirements:
Requirements for acquiring the Dragoon job in A Realm Reborn are LV 30 Lancer and LV 15 Marauder.
To unlock this job you must posess level 15 in the Marauder class and have completed the Level 30 Lancer quest " " given by the Lancer trainer in Gridania. Once those requirements are met, speak with the Lancer trainer in Gridania again to begin the "Eye of the Dragon" quest.

- Notes: The Level 30 Lancer quest can be quite difficult if you do not have decent gear equipped and are not avoiding aoe damage - purchasing up to date gear or leveling to level 31-32 may help players succeed in this quest. The "Eye of the Dragon" quest which unlocks the Dragoon Job is very easy in comparison.
